Jupiter’s mobile app brings the power of Solana’s leading DEX aggregator right to your pocket.

The mobile app is designed to be super simple and accessible for beginners. And the powerful features that are available on the desktop are also coming soon onto the app as well.

Trading is free, fast, easy and secure on the app. What sets it apart is its ability to maintain desktop-grade performance while simplifying complex interactions. You get the same best-in-class routing that powers Jupiter’s web platform. As the user you always get the best prices aggregated across platforms.

Few of the key features of the mobile app:

  • Zero platform fees: Trade without paying any platform charges for using Jupiter
  • One-click swap: Effortlessly swap any Solana token
  • Seamless on-ramping: Buy crypto using Credit card, Google Pay or PayPal
  • Portfolio at a glance: Monitor all your assets at a glance

In this Jupiter mobile guide, we will have a detailed look at how you can

  • Create a new wallet or import an existing wallet
  • Add SOL to your wallet
  • Swap tokens seamlessly
  • And few other features

Getting Started

The mobile app is available for both iOS and Android phones. Download it here: https://jup.ag/mobile (Ensure to double-check all the links and be careful of fake apps)

After you have downloaded the app, there are two ways to set it up:

  • Path 1 - Create a new wallet
  • Path 2 - Import an existing wallet

If you are new to crypto you may be wondering what is a wallet after all.

Concept Time: Understanding Wallets

A wallet is your gateway to DeFi actions. Think of it as a mobile banking app which has all your funds. Just like the mobile banking app doesn't directly hold the funds, wallets also directly do not store the tokens. Instead, the wallet is the gateway to access the tokens.

Remember that More Control = More Responsibility. Always double-check transactions — there is no customer service for reversing confirmed transactions.

Path 1 - Create a new wallet

If you are a user new to the crypto world or a pro user who wants to try Jupiter with a different wallet, then start by creating a new wallet.

Steps:

  • Tap Create Wallet
  • Name your wallet and tap Next
  • Safely save your Secret Recovery Phrase

Your wallet is now ready!

But this leaves us with a new question, what is a recovery phrase?

Concept Time: What is a Recovery Phrase?

A Recovery Phrase (or Seed Phrase) is a master key to your wallet. Think of it as the master recovery system. You can use the recovery phrase to restore your wallet if you forget your password or when you want to move the wallet to a new device (we will read more about this in the next section). These are a set of 12 or 24 words in a specific order.

Important: Never share your recovery phrase with anyone. Whoever knows your recovery phrase can simply restore your wallet anywhere they want.

Path 2 - Import an existing wallet

If you already have a wallet, you can simply import it.

You don't have to create a new wallet. Just keep the seed phrase of your existing wallet handy to import and you are all set to use the Jupiter app.

Steps:

  • Tap Import Wallet
  • Enter your Recovery phrase or Private key
  • Tap Continue
  • Select wallets you want to import

You can now see all the tokens on the Jupiter app and can swap them to get new ones.

Adding SOL to your wallet

After you have created or imported a wallet, there will be a need to add funds. There are 2 ways you add SOL to your wallet on the Jupiter app.

  • Option 1-Instant Buy SOL
  • Option 2-Receive SOL

Option 1-Instant Buy SOL (web2 meets web3)

With this option, you can use the common web2 methods such as Credit Card, Google Pay, and PayPal to buy crypto. The minimum amount to buy is $30. This is the easiest method for someone new to the crypto world.

Option 2-Receive SOL (native crypto path)

This is a native crypto path. In this option, you get a deposit address.

You can deposit in three ways:

  • Transfers from centralized exchanges: Exchanges like Binance, OKX let you buy crypto and from Binance or others you can send the crypto to your deposit address. Once it is sent from the centralized exchange to this address, it will reflect on the Jupiter app wallet
  • Peer-to-Peer transactions: There are sellers who take fiat (USD, EUR etc.) and send crypto to your address. Ensure that you deal with a trusted seller
  • Cross-Wallet movements: You can send some funds from your existing wallets into this new wallet

Now you may be thinking what is a deposit address?

Concept Time: What is a Deposit Address?

A deposit address is like your bank account number. It’s the unique identifier where funds are sent.

To deposit funds into a bank account the account number is needed. Similarly, for wallets, the deposit address is required so that you or anyone else can send funds to it.

In the crypto world, this address is also called the Public address.

Swapping Tokens

Now let us see how to swap into SOL into USDC.

Steps to Swap:

  • Choose the token to swap from (SOL)
  • Choose the token to swap into (USDC)
  • Enter the amount— or use quick-select (50%, 75%, MAX).
  • Tap Swap

Jupiter finds the best rates for you and does the swap almost instantly. And thanks to the quick-select portions (50%, 75%, MAX), the input time reduces massively.

Settings - Advanced Controls

You can set the following settings for your trades

  • Slippage setting
  • Transaction fees

Slippage settings

It is the difference between the price quote at the beginning and the actual price at which the trade goes through. Because there is a time difference between the starting and completion of the transaction it results in a difference of prices.

So this setting protects you from significant price changes during the transaction especially for Volatile assets. Higher slippage tolerance means your transaction is more likely to go through, but you might get slightly fewer tokens than expected.

If you set it for 3% that means that you are okay with losing up to a 3% of your tokens from your trade.

Transaction fees

While Jupiter does not charge any platform fees there is a network fee for your transaction to get confirmed. This transaction fee is also known as the gas fee. During high-traffic periods, Jupiter lets you adjust the fees to ensure that your trades go through.

Sending Funds

Just like you can receive funds in your Jupiter mobile app wallet, you can also send SOL or any other Solana tokens from your wallet with just a few taps.

Steps:

  • Tap the Send tab at the top
  • Select the token
  • Enter the amount you want to send
  • Enter the recipient's address
  • Tap Continue

Pro Tip: The best practice is to get started with a small amount and learn. Unlike traditional banking, blockchain transactions cannot be reversed once confirmed. Always double-check the recipient’s address before confirming.

Transaction History

You can also see all your past swaps under the History section.

Clicking on each of the swaps takes you to the Solscan for a detailed view of the transaction.

The Road Ahead

The Jupiter mobile app is just the beginning. It represents the first step in bringing institutional-grade DeFi to mobile users. The mobile app will continue to evolve while maintaining its mobile-first design philosophy.

You can expect more advanced features like limit order, DCA, VA, Perps soon on mobile as well.
